Is Dermaplaning just shaving your face?

Dermaplaning is a skin treatment that uses an exfoliating blade to skim dead skin cells and hair from your skin. Dermaplaning aims to make your skin’s surface smooth, youthful, and radiant. It’s also used to remove “peach fuzz,” the short, soft hairs on your face.

This treatment involves gently pulling a blade along your skin but Dermaplaning, unlike traditional shaving, uses a smaller blade to slough off dead skin cells in addition to removing wispy facial hair, resulting in skin that is more even in tone and texture.

Is Dermaplaning better than shaving?

Dermaplaning is more precise, as aesthetician is able target the angles of your face more precisely than if you were just shaving your face. When vellus hairs and dead skin cells are removed, skincare products penetrate deeper into the skin, allowing the ingredients to work better and makeup will go on smoother.

Will hair grow back thicker after Dermaplaning?

Many clients worry about future hair growth issues but Dermaplaning facial treatments do not make your hair grow back darker or thicker. The peach fuzz may feel a bit sharper as it grows out because of the straight edge, but it will not be any thicker.

How often can you Dermaplane your face?

Since this treatment works by removing dead skin cells, surface imperfections, and unwanted hair, it can be done every 3-4 weeks.

Dermaplaning can be used for any skin type and can be beneficial for anyone with:

  • acne scars
  • dull skin
  • dry skin
  • sun-damaged skin
  • fine wrinkles

We provide Dermaplaning treatments for clients in the Greater Toronto area including Downtown Toronto, Kingsway, Bloor West Village, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Oakville, North York, Oshawa and beyond!
